Each year as many as 75 noted speakers -- authors, professors, scientists, museum curators, reporters, physicians, musicians, playwrights and others -- enlighten and entertain members and their guests at lunch and dinner programs. An exquisite Art Deco Steinway grand piano, specially designed for the Cosmopolitan Club and once played by George Gershwin, is a focal point in the Club's artistic life.
In addition to the speaker programs, special events and social activities enhance the life of the Club. Excursions to the 9/11 Memorial in New York, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Winterthur, Fairmount Park Historical Houses and the Pennsylvania State Capitol are among the sites Club members have visited. Festive parties and dinners built around different themes and international food specialties appear often in the Club's calendar.
Any member can start a special interest group and pursue a passion along with other members who share that interest. The Club has four book groups, an active film group, ongoing bridge and mah jongg games, yoga, language groups, a needlework group and a giving circle.
Cosmopolitan Club members have reciprocal privileges with fifteen clubs in the United States and six abroad.
Admission to membership in the Cosmopolitan Club is by invitation. If you want more information or would like to schedule a tour, please contact Club Manager Agneta Bacican at 215-735-1057, ext. 11, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
